Sustainability
RiverClay is the Rocky Mountain Region's very first LEED ®-Certified condominium development, certified at the Silver level. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ("LEED") certification is conferred only after a building meets a comprehensive set of rigorous and third-party verified requirements for sustainability, energy conservation and performance, and indoor air quality.
RiverClay's focus on environmental and high-performance sustainable design will enhance it's residents' quality of life and create sound investment for years to come. Sustainable features at RiverClay include:
- Healthy interiors through low-toxic materials, and natural light
- All adhesives, paints, and coatings are low-VOC (volatile organic compounds)
- Reduced energy bills through efficient building systems and solar power
- Almost 40% more efficient than a standard like-sized building
- Over 4% of the building's energy comes from the sun, offsetting 60 tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to planting 4,500 trees
- High-performance, reflective (white) roofing reduces solar heat gain to home
- Low-emission, highly insulated window glass reduces summer heat gain and prevents winter heat loss while protecting interiors
- Highly insulated building exterior thermal envelope
- Efficient mechanical system design: 90% efficient water heater and 14 SEER air conditioning
- Over 35% water savings compared to a like-sized building through selection of efficient, high quality interior fixtures and appliances
- Two convenient recycling collection areas collecting a broad range of recyclable materials
- Energy Star rated appliances throughout
- Environmentally preferable, locally-produced and rapidly-renewable materials used throughout the building
- Easy, environmental and cost-effective transportation focus with community bicycle maintenance facility, bike parking, and proximity to mass transit
RiverClay Condominiumns
This sixty-unit condominium has one of the largest residential photovoltaic arrays in Denver; enough to power, light and cool nearly 80-percent of the building’s common areas and parking. Based on energy modeling, the typical residence is 38-percent more energy efficient than a comparable non-LEED residence. Units range from 795 to 1,882 square feet and provide some of the largest balconies in central Denver. The balconies serve not just as a wonderful amenity to the residents, but act as a solar shade, reducing summer cooling requirements.
Located in Denver’s Jefferson Park
neighborhood, across from a six-acre
park, RiverClay is Colorado’s first
LEED-certified residential condominium
building, certified
